Asylum seeker costs make up 1/3 of UK aid spend
The costs of hosting refugees in the UK reached £4.2 billion in 2023, making up 28% of the UK's aid spending in 2023. This is a sharp rise from pre-2020 levels, when the UK was spending just a tenth of current refugee hosting costs.
